MCommunity – FYI

June 14, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I attended a presentation this week about MCommunity, and ran off wanting to tell folks about it. Briefly, the University of Michigan is coming up with a new system for tracking its people — the different campuses and alumni and all. It has new rules for who is listed, how long they are there, how to get and make accounts, etcetera.

The interface is VERY nice, much easier and more efficient than UMOD (the University of Michigan Online Directory). But the other parts are what the local folks need to know about. And they are rolling this out soon, with the initial implementation planned for late summer or early fall, so don’t wait.

Now I don’t have to explain all this because they made a slidecast! I can hopefully even throw away my four pages of tiny scribbled notes. You can browse through the talk yourself. Check it out.
